Is it Worth Hiring a Wedding Makeup Artist in London?

Introduction:

Ah, weddings— the gathering of loved ones, and the oh-so-daunting task of looking absolutely stunning from dawn 'til dusk. Among the many decisions to make, one often debated question arises: is hiring a makeup artist for a wedding truly beneficial?

The DIY Dilemma:

Even though you’ve practised the looks yourself (hopefully), things can arise the night before such as blemishes, marks or an influx of hormones you weren't expecting.  The frantic Google search for the nearest makeup artist, product or removers will cause panic and worry.  Save yourself the stress and leave it to the pros who can take care of this for you, after all they do this for a living, they have everything in their kit to deal with last minute issues.

For instance, I had a bride call me on the morning of her wedding, crying and so upset, she fell over and unfortunately banged her head on the floor, she was ok no blood thank goodness, but the bruising came up and she had nothing to cover it with, as her normal foundation didn’t have the right amount of pigment and longevity.  So along with that, her eyes were puffy from crying, it was a very hot day and she was panicking.  Luckily I'm a London based Makeup Artist and was just around the corner from her, so was able to come to help.   The first thing I did was to put a cold compress on (always in my kit) Then talk her through how I can cover the bruising with camouflage makeup.  By doing this I helped calm her down, reduce the swelling and set her back on the right track of enjoying the wedding morning process with a few laughs too I’m glad to say.  I was able to colour correct and match the skin with the right camouflage products to enable long lasting waterproof resistance.

Now I’m not saying that this is going to happen to you, but this is why having a MUA by your side on the day is like having a fairy godmother there whenever you need them. The best makeup artist is an asset to your wedding morning, they know how to correct, adjust, remove, set, tweak and solve things.  They carry kit to cater for all emergencies with the least amount of fuss and stress. I actually have a ‘miscellaneous pouch’ that includes bits n bobs like safety pins, dental floss, hand cream, plasters, and loads more.

Makeup Artist Advantage:

With their vast amount of brushes, palettes & tools, they know a lot more about the products that will work for your skin.  A lot of the time they may use brands that you’ve never heard of. Professional brands targeted to the MUA working in the TV & film & fashion industries.  This is why having a MUA on board is crucial to ensure that you not only look fabulous but also feel special.  You don’t have the worry the night before, you know exactly how it’s going to look as you’ve already had the trial, you can get on and enjoy the wedding morning sipping champagne with your loved ones. What more could you possibly want… more tips, tricks and advise along the way? – done!

The Trials and Tribulations:

"But do I really need a makeup trial?" you ask, as you contemplate the pros and cons of spending extra money on what essentially boils down to a glorified dress rehearsal for your face. Consider the trial not just a test run for your makeup look but also a bonding experience with your makeup artist. It's a chance to communicate your vision, express your preferences, and build trust with the person, giving you peace of mind on such a momentous day.

The Investment in Confidence:

At the end of the day, hiring a makeup artist for your wedding is not just about looking good in photos (though that's certainly a bonus). It's about investing in yourself, your peace of mind, and your confidence. It's about stepping into that bridal gown with a smile on your face and a sparkle in your eye, knowing that you are absolutely, breathtakingly beautiful. So, go ahead, treat yourself to the luxury of professional makeup—it's worth every penny.

In Conclusion:

So, is it worth getting a makeup artist for a wedding? Absolutely, without a doubt.  Finding the help of a professional ensures that you look and feel like the best version of yourself on one of the most important days of your life.
